300 Doctors has summoned by Medical Council of India
MCI’s ethics
committee has received complaint against 300 doctors from across the country
that they had been bribed by a pharmaceutical firm. According to complaint, the
Ahmedabad-based pharma company has paying doctors money, gifts, cars, flats and
foreign trips in return for prescribing its medicine even though cheaper
alternatives from better known companies are available.
Nearly 100
of these doctors have been appeared before MCI’s ethics committee on Monday. 150 doctors had to appear before ethics
committee, only 109 appeared. The rest were summoned on Monday and asked to
appear at next meeting of the committee in December.
