Ayurveda describes the beneficial, nonbeneficial, happy and unhappy aspects of life. Health is defined as the state of equilibrium of  dosha  (humours),  agni  (digestive juices, enzymes and hormones),  dhatu  (tissues) and the normal excretion of  mala  (waste materials), along with a happy state of  atma  (soul),  indriya  (sensory and motor organs), and  manas  (mind). Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word derived from  ayuh  (life) and  veda  (knowledge), and is also known as the “science of life”. Rigveda  (2000 BC) is the oldest recorded document regarding use of plants as medicine in India, and this tradition continued in another ancient text, Atharvaveda  (1500-1000 BC), which described more plants and introduced basic concepts. Vedic medicine, considered one of the oldest systems of medicine in the world, was developed in India during the period 2000-1000 B.C. The seers of ancient India used their observation, experience and natural resources to develop a unique system which they named Ayurveda, or the “science of life”. Ayurveda word is combination of two Sanskrit words – Ayur and Veda. Ayur means “Life” and Veda means “Knowledge”. Ayurveda ( आयुर्वेद ) is a Sanskrit word means Life-knowledge. इंडियन फार्माकोपिया आयोग (आईपीसी) ने हाल ही में जड़ी बूटियों और हर्बल उत्पादों के मोनोग्राफ विकास के लिए मार्गदर्शन दस्तावेज जारी किया है।  इस पुस्तिका का उदेश्य आईपी के हितधारकों के लिए दिशा निर्देश प्रदान करने के उद्देश्य से है। जो कि जड़ी बूटियों और हर्बल उत्पादों मोनोग्राफ , फाइटोकेमिकल्स संदर्भ पदार्थों के मटेरियल, वनस्पति के संदर्भ पदार्थों, जिनका रिफरेन्स आईपीसी में दिया गया है, को सबमिट करना चाहते है। दस्तावेज़ से निर्माताओं और अन्य हितधारकों को जड़ी बूटियों और हर्बल उत्पादों के मोनोग्राफ की प्रक्रिया और विकास को समझने में मदद मिलेगी और मार्गदर्शक की भूमिका अदा करेगा । इससे एक साथ भारत और विदेशों में हर्बल्स की गुणवत्ता बढ़ाने के लिए अनुसंधान और विकास को प्रोत्साहित करने और बढ़ावा देने में मदद मिलेगी। मैनुअल मोनोग्राफ के विकास के साथ ही वनस्पति संदर्भ पदार्थ (बीआरएस) और फाइटोकेमिकल्स संदर्भ पदार्थ (पीआरएस) के लिए वर्तमान मानक संचालन प्रक्रिया (SOPs) का उल्लेख करता है इस पुस्तिका पर काम करने वाले कोर कमेटी ने डॉ जीएन सिंह सचिव-सह-वैज्ञानिक निदेशक (आईपीस

Chemical Classification of crude herbal drugs

 The crude drugs are divided into different groups according to the chemical nature of their most important constituent. Since the pharmacological activity and therapeutic significance of crude drugs are based on the nature of their chemical constituents. The chemical classification of drugs is dependent upon the grouping of drugs with identical constituents. An out of this classification is as follows: 1. Carbohydrates– Carbohydrates are polyhydroxy aldehydes or ketones containing an unbroken chain of carbon atoms. ‘Panchgavya’ Ayurvedic Products Available in Indian Market.....

Add caption Nearly 450 Ayurvedic companies are manufacturing medicinal products obtained from cow’s five products i.e. milk, curd, ghee, urine, and dung collectively known as ‘Panchgavya’. "Out of 7,835 licensed ayurvedic drug manufacturing units in the country, many ayurvedic drugs manufacturing companies manufacture medicinal formulations made from Panchgavya or cow's products," Minister of State for AYUSH Shripad Yesso Naik said in a written reply in Lok Sabha.   Punjab and Kerala have more units that are manufacturing products from these products. Punjab has nearly 229 units and Kerala has nearly 200 units. Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Haryana have 5, 3, 3 and 2 units respectively which are manufacturing ‘Panchagavya’ products.
