Quillaia:


Quillaia is mainly found in Chile and Peru. In India, it is obtained in Northern Part.

Other Names: Quilaya, Soap Bark, Panama wood

Biological Name: Quillaja Saponaria Molina

Family: Rosaceae

Part used: Inner part of Bark

Chemical Constituents: Quillaia contains triterpenoid saponin glycosides mainly quillaic acid and quillaia sapotoxin. It also contains sucrose and tannin.

Uses:
It is used as an Expectorant.
It’s saponins are used as emulsifying agents for Tar and Volatile oil.
It is also used in Detergents and Shampoo.
